Wye with Hinxhill Parish

HAPPY NEW YEAR !

A New Councillor joins Wye with Hinxhill Parish Council

At its regular meeting on 15 January 2009 the Parish Council will be welcoming a new councillor, Mike Hill, who was elected unopposed in December 2008.  Mike and his wife (Ann) have been living in the village for about five years. They have three grown up children and Mike co-owns and is managing director of a consultancy company that provides programme and planning support to the construction industry both in the UK and overseas. His wishes for the village are ‘to maintain its tranquil environment at the same time as encouraging organic growth, both in housing and business terms, retaining wherever possible the local traders and amenities’. His pet hate is the speed of vehicles in and leaving the village!

The Parish Council is now nearly back up to strength, with just one seat left unfilled. Since there was no request to fill this vacancy by election, it is left to the Parish Council to co opt someone to join its ranks and a call for a volunteer to come forward to fill the vacancy will be made soon.

Wye with Hinxhill Parish lies within one of the most beautiful areas of Kent.

Wye itself has a fascinating history and its medieval street layout forms the basis of the village's Conservation Area.  Its parish church stands sentinel over Wye and its adjoining countryside.

The village and the parish as a whole face many challenges . The Parish Council is working as best it can to promote the well-being of the parish by: helping maintain and improve the quality of residents' lives; contributing towards the preservation, enhancement and enjoyment of the character, beauty and integrity of the village and parish; listening to and representing the views and needs of all parishioners and supporting their interests.
